Beware of Mattress Sales

When a person decides to purchase a mattress there are several considerations which should be kept in mind. It is not like just going to a mattress dealer and buying what you like or what is recommended by the dealer. In reality, there is a large variety and types of mattresses to choose from and the preference for mattresses varies from one person to another. Some like it firm, some like it soft while others want what keeps their back aches and pains away. The ultimate goal is a relaxing and comfortable sleeping platform.
With the large variety of products available, there are also increased chances of being scammed or getting a fraudulent deal. So, you as a buyer should beware of mattress sales scams. Some of the common complaints or grievances of buyers include the following.

  1. Many mattress dealers sell single sided mattresses. These are inexpensive and an easy way to make more profit. Although it can help you save money, the life of the mattress is reduced by half. It also compromises on the level of support and comfort that can be provided by a double sided product.  With lesser life it will require you to make a replacement much sooner and hence make another buy within a short time period.
  2. Most of the imported products of mattresses are compressed when shipped into the region of sales. They lack supports on the edges that leads to a rolling off feel when the mattress will get collapsed.  Such imported mattress producers do not comply with safety regulations and standards of Australia either.  Use of some harmful chemicals on them can also make things worse if you decide to buy them.
  3. The mattresses which have an attached pillow on the top are very attractive. They may look fluffy and comfy in the beginning, but over extended use, the pillow gets damaged or deflated and requires the entire mattress to be replaced. Because it is a single unit, the depression or bodily deformation of any one part makes the entire mattress dysfunctional and requires replacement much sooner.
  4. Soft mattresses have layers of various types of foams which give it a soft touch. While using them, they can become very hot and uncomfortable.
  5. Many dealers show that they are offering thousands of dollars as discounts and price reductions.  These are fake attractions only made to fool you into buying only cheaper mattresses.
