Top Tips to Fix a Patio Heater

Gas patio heaters operate through a simple mechanism as they are not complex machines. Therefore, fixing them in case of problems is quite easy. When they stop producing heat or fail to give off sufficient heat, it is time to bring your tool kit and fix the heater. Perform the following steps for this purpose.

Check Fuel Supply

The first thing you need to do before going on to fix your patio heater is to check the fuel supply. There might be some issue in your gas supply instead of the heater. On the other hand, if your patio heater works through electric ignition, you need to check your electric power supply. You can check if there is a spark in order to ensure the power is being supplied without issues.

Replace the Gas Cylinder

The most likely issue with your patio heater can be an empty gas cylinder. At times, the cylinder still seems to have gas inside, but it is insufficient for the generation of pressure required for lighting up the gas burner. Therefore, the easiest solution to this problem is to remove the cylinder and replace it with a new one which is full with enough pressure for the burner.

Fix the Gas Regulator

If the issue is not with the gas cylinder, it is likely your gas regulator is creating a problem. This regulator is connects the gas cylinder to a pipe which transfers the fuel to the burner. There is a valve at the top of the gas cylinder controlled by flip switch in the regulator. Make sure this flip switch is turned in the right direction and is not preventing the gas from flowing from the cylinder to the burner via the gas pipe.

 Check the Gas Pipe

As you now understand the passage of gas from the cylinder to the burner, you should know the important role of the gas pipe. In case of any blockage in the pipe, the passage of gas would be obstructed. Therefore, check the gas pipe and perform any clean up if necessary. As the pipe is fixed, you cannot remove it for checking or cleaning. You have to blow air through it to check for any blockage.

These simple steps are going to help you fix your patio heater quite easily. There is no need for professional help unless you fail to understand the underlying issue. In that case, you can seek the help of an expert to fix the problem.
