Important Tips for Your Home Plumbing

There is no need to call a plumber if your plumbing problem does not seem to be much complicated. With a little know-how, you can perform most of the tasks by yourself. It saves you money as well as time. Still, there are many issues that must be handled by a professional plumber because they can be dangerous for common people who have no idea how to fix them.  Minor jobs like leaks, drips and clogged drains should be handled by homeowners, as they don’t take much time. Below are some tips for these people which can be handy in emergency.

Kitchen Sink Sprayer Gets Stuck:
This is probably the easiest home plumbing job that any homeowner can easily do. The sprayer of the kitchen sink usually gets stuck because of the water shut-off valves that it actually catches on sometimes. In order to avoid this problem, you better tape on valves and pipes with foam pipe insulation.

Running Toilets:
This happens because the connection between water and toilet never gets ended. It might not be costly problem, but it definitely wastes lots of water that is really not good. To fix it, check the ball or flapper. Close it if it is not completely closed. Secondly, check whether or not the chain is too tight. Then, you may also have to adjust the water level.

Leaking Pipe:
It is hard for homeowners to fix major water leaks, but they can certainly handle the minor ones. First of all, cut the water supply and then wrap the leaking section with a sheet of rubber. Use a sleeve clamps to tight it.

Shower Head Clogging:
The holes of water shower are very small that can easily get clogged because of mineral deposits from hard water. This is, however, not as hard to fix it. The problem can be solved with the help of warm vinegar and an old toothbrush. This is because the mineral deposits can easily dissolve into vinegar. So, when you de-attach the shower head and put it into a bowl of hot vinegar for more than hour, it dissolves many of the deposits. The rest can be removed through rinsing by a toothbrush.

Drain Blockage:
The liquids like cooking oil and fats can easily block your drainage and this is a problem that sometimes becomes very difficult to handle. These liquids gets solidify, as they go down the drain. Resultantly, you end up in a drain blockage. So, always take care of what you pour down your drain so that you never face any problem like that.
