Replacement of Kitchen Cabinet Doors

Difference between Refacing and Replacing:
Replacing and refacing are two different terms that are important to understand. In refacing, you just change the doors of the cabinets without changing the entire structure of
the cabinets.  Replacement refers to the change of the entire structure. When someone says that he is planning to change the doors of his kitchen cabinets, it means that he is actually talking about the refacing of the cabinets, as entire structure is not being changed.

Why Replacing only Doors is good:
Replacing only doors of cabinets is always beneficial for chiefly two reasons. The first reason is it takes less time in changing the doors, while the second reason is the amount of money that you will be spending on this project. Refacing costs much less than replacing. Replacement of doors will completely change the look of the cabinets and makes them look brand new.

What Materials can you Use for that Purpose?
You have freedom to choose any type of material of your choice. There are so many options available for the homeowners when it comes to changing the doors of the kitchen cabinets. You can either choose to have a wood cabinet door or a glass cabinet door. Similarly, if you are planning to cover your cabinet boxes with veneer, you have choice whether to cover it with wood veneer or laminate veneer. There are no restrictions about the choice of the material used.

Types of Frames Used:
You can either choose to have framed or frame-less doors for your kitchen cabinets. There is a minor difference between these two frames. A framed door will have a border of about one inch around all sides of the door, while a frame –less frame will not be bearing anything like that.

Why do you always have to replace the Cabinet Doors?
This is because the doors are the only thing in a cabinet that face most wear and tear. Has anyone examined that how many times a kitchen cabinet door is opened or closed in a year? The other structure remains the same, while these are only the doors that have to deal with the heat, smoke and cooking grease. As a result of all these things, the doors tend to lose their look and charm and start appearing dull and older in much less time than expected. Since the other structure has not undergone any sort of major changes, it will not be a good decision to change the entire box mere because of the doors.
